A Briefcase Full of Code ? Profile

Name:  James
E-mail:  EmailME
Location:  After a while, you can figure it out.
Birthday:  6 May, 1984
Bio:  I'll just start right out and say that I'm a nerd, and I wear that title proudly. But, before you form ideas, I'm a very different kind of nerd. I do not wear short-sleeve, button-up shirts with pocket protectors (Okay, I did once as a gag, but that was a long time ago, and shall never be spoken of again). I can fit into almost any group seemlessly. Do not think this makes me a social butterfly, I hate that kind of crap. I enjoy many things: good movies, driving around in the night, playing card games, hanging around and talking with friends, and reading. I'm one of those people quite comfortable with spending an evening doing any of these activies, or all together, depending on how tired I am.

I attend a major university around where I live, where I am studying computer science.
Interests:  I enjoy listening to a wide range of music, with the exception of country and rap, they really just don't do anything for me; not knocking the talent of the artists in those respective fields, I just don't enjoy it. I really like metal music, escpecially Metallica, which happens to be my favorite band. I know some would consider them dinosuars in this day and age, but I can hear their influence in a lot of today's metal. I also enjoy things like SoundGarden (and their reincarnation, AudioSlave), Disturbed, Godsmack, Dave Matthew's Band, Johnny Cash (my only country vice), and lot of others.

Movie-wise, I like a wide range of things. I think my favorite movies are: The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Dogma, Dune, The Matrix saga, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, GhostBusters, Blues Brothers, and Animal House. Basically, if a cheesy boy-meets-girl-etc. love plot isn't the center of the movie, I'll like it.

What do I read? Well, to be succinct, a lot: just ask if you want to know.

I don't know why politics interests me, I find its game to be dirty and dis-honest, but its just fun to watch sociology in action. Be warned that I may rant in length on this subject.

What interest me as a computer scientist? I think AI is incredibly interesting, its the closest a guy can come to giving birth. I'm also entertained by operating systems, systems software and cryptology. Basically I enjoy the things that make the world run, but never sees as much press as CGI and gaming software. OS's, systems, AI, and cryptology are what I consider to be modern alcehmy, they're poorly understood, they have their own, cryptic languages, and to the outsider, its almost impossible to understand whats going on.
