And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.

Ah, I have to thank my friends. Thanks for making me feel better. Was kinda down, now I'm not. Thanks.
Uh, not much else, just trying to relax so I can get to sleep at a reasonable time. Reasonable as in after Family Guy.
Alright, night all, have a good one.

Well, I've already begun to assume my job as "Software Guy," as my boss calls it. I will be working with David for the next couple of days trying to debug a software issue we're having, then I'll begin a test with a small dataset and work with the guy that created it to make a movie. If that all goes well, I'll move the data out onto the big cluster, then work with the guy for another movie thats bigger and better. If that works, then heavy software modification and creation for the summer. So its time to step up and stand tall.
Extremely exciting stuff.
What else, what else.... Well, not really much of a "what else," just getting my ass handed to me via homework.
And on that note, I go back to it.

Uh, not much doing today, just talking to folk online. Fun conversations indeed. Thanks for the compliments. And thanks for the comments on here.
Well, I just learned today if I can survive a trial by fire after finals at work, I'll get to become the chief software architect. Its not an official title, but Paul said that's basically what it is. I think I'm up to the challenge. I'm doing it so Paul and David can actually get some science done. Exciting stuff here folks.
Ah, that's about it for now, have a good night folks.

Ah, an actually good Sunday for once. Worked, then went home and relaxed for a while. Then went up to Woodbury to hang out with Krysten, Kassi, and Shelli. Fun stuff, fun stuff.
Uhhhh, outside of that, not much is going on. Laptop still hosed, and will probably be so until next weekend where I'll have time to sit down and do it. And I think I'll be going with Debian, just simply for stability reasons. When I get it going, it should be stable until the hardware fails.
Alrighty, later all, and a have a good night.

I have to agree with Krysten here, speak up people, this place isn't for me to solely spout off (even though that's all I do). I wanna hear from people too, but no one says anything. Hello, James to anyone else out on the network.
Anyway, that's about it for today, other than the fact that my laptop is still hosed.

Well, I done gone and royally fucked up the Linux install on my laptop. Ah well, its not like I had anything crucial on it. And besides, I'm asking for a beating trying to put Linux on something as arcane as a laptop. Contrary to popular opinion, there's lots of funny hardware on laptops that is hard to configure. You never notice it with M$ since they're in bed with all the people that make the funny little things for laptop and so they know the secrets to make it work. For outsiders (namely *nix: Unix, Linux, *BSD) they have to figure it out the hard way and hope to whatever they hope to that the damn thing works. So I'm not really surprised that I completely wrecked it. I guess all I can do is to try and reinstall it in the morning. All I can say is that whatever happens, no M$ product shall ever again touch my laptop.
On another note. Did you know that the purpose of the bill of rights and the entire Constitutional amendment process was designed solely to protect the minority of citizens? That's right. You see, the Constitution itself guarantees that the majority is right 99.999%, except when it comes into conflict with the amendments. The amendments are there to clearly spell out things not in the Constitution guaranteeing rights. So pass any amendment, no matter how much the majority wants it, no matter how much it might be moral, no matter whatever the concern is, if it defeats the rights of the minority, it defeats the process of the amendment system. Make sense? I know its confusing, but then again, its simple if you think about it logically.
And I'm going to sack it in now before I completely loose it and being speaking gibberish (yes, I know it seems like I do that a lot anyways).

The penguins guard me....

Well, the Linux on the laptop is going, but albeit somewhat slow. I can't for the life of me get the wireless card to work, and I'm having this sinking feeling that I'll have to build a new kernel. While this is a milestone in any Linux system, I hadn't planned on doing it after only having a Linux machine for less than a week. But there are other options I'm going to explore first.
Other than that? I dunno, just mainly that homework is kicking my ass. But that's really not a surprise at all. Ah well.
Anyway, to quote an old friend of mine: "And that's all I gots to say."

Linux: its good to be free
Now, what do you own the world?
how do you own disorder, disorderSystem of a Down, Toxicity
Well, I got the penguin onto my laptop. The next step is getting the wireless card to work right, which I have feeling is going to be a total and complete bitch. But Linux is there, and I'm not going back. This is something I'm just going to have to learn, no more relying on some big software company to hand me a driver, I'll have to make it work by myself. And so what, it'll be good.
Other than that, nothing much doing this weekend, just kinda sitting around and watching the weather.
Anyway, I'm damn tired, so I'm going to sack it in.

Motives changing, day to day,
The fire increases, masks decay.
I look at the river, white foam floats down,
The body's poisoned, gotta sit tight.
The wait, the wait, the wait, the wait.

The screams subside, distortion shows.
Mutant thoughts of bad mouthed news,
Is just another birth of distorted views. The Wait, Killing Joke
So yeah, I'm back. Got a few text messages today that were not exactly nice, and to be honest, they are exactly of the caliber of the person that sent them. Ah well, fuck it. I tried to be nice, and it didn't work. I know breakups hurt, believe you me, but I do understand its no reason to be fucking immature about it (another thing I have learned from experience).
To all my friends out there, thanks for understanding me and what I had to do, and thanks for your support over the last few days. You all get a cookie!
Still working on that essay about operating systems, and I think after the discussions I've had with a few TA's and the people I work with (people that have been in computing since punch-card times), I'm going to talk about processors as well. So, gimme another couple of weeks to work at it.
That's it for now, gonna hit the books and clear up some homework.

I did it. And I feel like a fucking ass.
And I know I hurt her and myself. Time will heal, but it hurts now.
I'm going to go away for a while, a few days on the outside. Back by Thursday for sure.
The rest of you have fun. Eat, drink, and be merry, and I'll try to join you there soon.
